Allow me introduce myself and my dogs.
Hello my name is Jennifer Hampton and I discovered my first Australian Shepherd at the Humane Society in the early 1980's. This dog was unfortunately placed in the shelter because her owner could no longer tolerate her chasing the neighbors' sheep. She was a wonderful girl and about the smartest dog I had ever been around. Being that I got her at a late age I didn't get to keep her long, but in the short time I had her she definitely got me hooked on the breed.
Happy Trails' Australian Shepherd breeding program is based on producing beautiful and sound dogs, both mentally and physically. When choosing a breeding cross, I look for great temperaments and healthy bloodlines to produce quality and not quantity. I may breed one to two litters a year. All of our breeding dogs have OFA hip ratings and their eyes cleared annually by a Canine Ophthalmologist.
Happy Trails Australian Shepherds puppies are born and raised in our home and not in a kennel. Puppies are handled and cared for daily. They are exposed to different people, animals, and foreign noises to nurture the most well adjusted puppies. All of are puppies are sent to their new homes with current shots, wormed and with a vaccination schedule. All of our puppies are also examined by a Canine Ophthalmologist for possible inherited eye defects before placement in their new homes. I personally like to screen potential buyers to make sure the puppy is right for the buyer and the buyer is right for the puppy. Raising a dog is a lifetime commitment.
I love my dogs and enjoy their company. My dogs are willing to do anything I ask of them, including long days at dog shows or accompanying me to work and sleeping under my desk.
